Our good friends at the RICS (Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors) have delivered an early Christmas present in the form of a forecast – “……..property will become even more unaffordable over the next five years…….. The legacy of the drop in new build following the onset of the global financial crisis is now really hitting home, with both the sales and letting markets continuing to show demand outstripping supply on a month by month basis," so said Simon Rubinsohn, chief economist at RICS.
This simply means that this current generation of ‘renters’ will continue to grow, unless we either, increase the supply of affordable ‘new-builds’ or we come to terms with more realistic pricing of properties being brought to market for sale, …..or both. Did someone say “Bah, Humbug?”
